Check out the teaser for Next Level featuring Kael Hill:
Well, there’s never much to write about this time of the year. The mountains are closed for the season and the glaciers are getting ready. The team is out there golfing, drinking beer on patios and working their various jobs so that they can fund their boardin’ habit come the fall. As for me, busy in the shop (imagine that!).
Rest assured that I’ll update you guys whenever there is something worth talking about, so as always, stay tuned…
We’ve been working hard to bring you new shapes and new camber geometries for 10/11, so stay tuned for some exciting new designs. The team has been out there testing all the shapes and rockers…we still have a month and a half till the hills close here in the Canadian Rockies so there’s still time to fine-tune, tweak and test again before the snow melts.
I have 3 extra Where’s Ryan 148 cm twin boards for sale. All are brand new and come with a full warranty. 2 have white bases and one has a blue base. $250 + GST (each)…first come, first serve. Email me at info (at) clydesnowboards.com
I just got back from 3 perfect days at the infamous Island Lake Lodge in Fernie, BC. I was nervous driving down there as it hadn’t snowed in a few weeks and is seemed like such a damn waste to finally get to go to that place if there wasn’t chest deep powder. Well, I was quickly proven wrong the next morning when I woke up to bluebird skies, warm temperatures and surprisingly sick pow.
I was in a cat with 11 other hilarious guys, our driver Greg, tail gunner Ryan, guide Cory and a photographer (who shot a couple of these pics) Todd.
We were averaging over 15,000 vertical feet on the altimeter per day and our 3 day total was over 50,000 ft. Now I’ve been riding for 21 years and even with a custom tapered pow board I was exhausted. Haha.
The terrain is second to none…each ride up in the cat I was spotting famous lines I’ve seen in videos and in magazines over the years and listening to my guide’s stories of legendary pros and the crazy shit they’ve done up there.
What a sick trip…amazing riding, amazing food, amazing group. Did I mention that they have beers waiting for you when you finish your last run each day? Heck ya
Just got back from a trip to check out the Olympic craziness. No tickets to any events, just a free place to stay with my brother and a liver ready for destroying.
People ask me all the time if the Olympics are going to do anything for my business and the answer was always heck no until I go the contract to build all of the boards for CTV and the Olympic Consortium.
The city itself was nuts all day all night with people frickin’ everywhere. Some of the main streets were shutdown so you could stumble anywhere you pleased.
Managed to get into the Heineken House which is usually a feat in itself (with rumors of 4 hour line-ups), so we weren’t shy to go at 11am to get the day started off right. No line-ups, beer in one hand and fries with mayo in the other.
Even Quatchi came out of his mystical forest for a drink or two.
On the last night we destroyed the Alberta House for The Dudes show and brought the trip to a nice wrap. I can’t imagine spending one more night pushing my body to its limits, so thanks for the good times Vancouver!
To make a long story short, I went to highschool with ex pro shred Jorli Ricker who had a little sister named Maelle. One day we got her off her skis and took her riding up Blackcomb on a 138 Kemper Kid and the rest was history. Today she won the gold in Snowboardcross and I couldn’t be more pumped for her!
It was time….it was time to take a day off and go riding at a real hill. What better place to go then head to my favorite mountain in Canada, Kicking Horse (I’ve only hit Revy once and it wasn’t a pow day, so for now KH is still my favorite). The Clyde team has been spread all over, Mike Dunlop is over in Pemberton, Ryan Hall is a Canada Olympic Park regular along with Eric Lauzon, Dwayne Wiebe has been filming up in Edmonton this past week, Donn Hore is in Whistler shooting, Craig Beaulieu is training for the World Slopestyle Championships, Kael Hill is in Quebec working on a TV show, and me…I’ve just been trying to balance work and play.
