The blog posts have been sparse…I realize that and I’m going to do my best to keep you guys updated on all Clyde happenings over the next few months. If you haven’t already, be sure to search for Clyde on both Twitter and Crackbook for daily updates.

Basically I’ve been working with the CNC machine all week cutting cores and preparing materials for summer production (which is ongoing as we speak). Building all sorts of boards for all sorts of projects on top of stocking up Clyde boards for fall delivery and trying to send the occasional round of golf to get fresh air. I’m going to try to get out to Whistler for some summer shredding and to take photos of the team riders and I’ll be sure to keep you up to date.

Sometimes there’s no rhyme or reason as to why I post the things I post….in this case I just happen to like how this pic by David Brocklebank of Gnarcore captured the very moment that team rider Kael Hill met our newest addition to the team, Donn Hore in Whistler a few weeks back.

So that’s it. Another end to another amazing season. This one was special in my mind as it was the 20th year I have been snowboarding. Not to age myself, but it’s true…I started riding in the 1988/1989 season on a 165cm Crazy Banana even though I was 12 years old and was about 5′ tall. Ahhhh the severe pain from shitty Sorel boots, painful bindings and boards that were way too big to possibly control, sneaking onto hills that didn’t allow us and loving every minute of it. I love snowboarding and you do too (that’s why you’re still reading this). See ya next season!

At Clyde we’ve always prided ourselves on producing the best quality boards. We don’t cheap out on raw materials and we test, test, and test again before different board constructions ever make it to market. Because of this, Clyde has one of the lowest warranty rates of return in the industry. Of course every company claims this so the words are empty.

Of the hundred and hundreds of boards we have produced in the past 12 months, only one Clyde board was returned for a legitimate warranty return…we checked our production log-books, isolated the problem (it happened to be a problem with one of our material suppliers), admitted fault and replaced the board free of charge. One snowboard?! We’re pretty dang proud of that. Now how many companies do you know that publicly post their warranty rates?

I get lots of questions from people asking what it is exactly that I do this time of the year.  Well, I take orders for the following winter, I catch-up on accounting, I order raw materials for summer production, print graphics, build boards (lots of them), repair equipment in the shop, update the business plan….and yes, I even get to go riding.  Thank you Sunshine Village for being open until mid-May!  That’s just the start of the things I’m up to these days.  Believe it or not, as I prepare the boards for 09/10, I am ALREADY working on the designs and plans for 10/11 so things can get a bit chaotic this time of the year but it’s all good.

Last week I promised two new team riders that were about to be added to the roster, and here is the first. Donn Hore, from Whistler, BC (well…originally Hinton, Alberta) is now on the Clyde team and we are super pumped to have him on board! Anyone who has seen Donn’s riding knows that he is sick, sick, sick…backcountry booters, cliff drops, park, you name it. The Clyde team just keeps on gettin’ better by the day…one more spot to fill…who could it be? You’ll have to wait a few more days for that announcement.
