ArtProject Recap…it was a good night.

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

On Friday night Clyde Snowboards (in conjunction with Red Baron Apparel and the Source Boardshop) sponsored the ArtProject, a Calgary artshow with a focus on snowboard and skateboard art.  Actually, it turned out to be more of a raging party with nice art on the walls, but that’s another story.  All I can say is that you know it was a good night when you can’t find your cell in the morning.

Anyway, back to the story…it all went down starting nice and early at 5pm with a steady stream of people coming in to check things out, but the real crowd started around 7:30 or 8pm when there were literally hundreds of people coming and going.

Clyde had a nice little set-up with some of the boards being suspended in the air for all to see.  Board designs by Mark Kowalchuk, Extraverage, and Christina Huber were front and center.  There was tons of art from the likes of Artschool, TJ Schneider, and more.  Here are some examples…

Like I said, the crowd started to get thick around 8 and the booze really started flowin’.  Here’s me and Cherie right before it got out of hand…

Here’s TJ Schneider from Capita, Mike Gilfix from RBA, Dwayne Wiebe from the Source and Kim…

Christina Huber, our good friend and artist behind the Kingdom board graphic came down for the evening as well…

Clyde Featured in Unlimited Magazine

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

I recently did an interview for Unlimited Magazine that you can check-out in the September issue that hit the shelves today.  The article is titled “David vs. Goliath…Going head to toe with the big brands”…….which is funny to me for some reason.  I guess it sounds really dramatic or something : )

Unlimited is a relatively new business magazine from the people who do Alberta Venture Magazine.  It’s cool because it’s all about young businesses in Canada and every article isn’t about rich dudes from Oil and Gas which is nice.

New Woodcore Design

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

In an effort to always move forward, progress, and develop better ways to build boards, Clyde will be introducing it’s new woodcore lay-up this season.  It’s 15% lighter than our standard core yet stronger.  To top it all off, it makes the board much more poppy and lively under your feet.  I like!

Only 1 month left before we open

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

On September 15th the Clyde factory showroom will open for the season.  I can’t believe that’s only a month away, but I couldn’t be more excited for the coming winter so I’m pumped to get going.  I will do my best to keep this blog updated as much as possible and I will get the new team riders (who I will be announcing shortly) to post their own blog entries so you have interesting stories on all fronts.

Although the showroom opens in a month, if you are interested in getting a Clyde deck I am already booking orders for the 08/09 season so you can always give me a call or fire me an email to be one of the first on the list.

New Updated Site!

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Welcome to the new (and hopefully improved) 2008 / 2009 site!  We’ve kept lots of the stuff that worked and canned a lot of the stuff that didn’t, so hopefully all of you will find this site better overall.  We like it anyway and this is not a democracy…this is a dictatorship.  The dictatorship of Clyde.  Hahaha…. We’re getting tons of really positive feedback on the line from the artwork to the improvements on the construction of the boards themselves, everything for 08/09 is tighter, lighter, and just better all around.  We couldn’t be more stoked.

A big thanks to Jamie at Architexture for the web design, Mark at Artschool for his design and loyalty to the brand, Patrice for his photography, Christina & Karlory for their amazing board graphics, Mike Dunlop for the rest of the pics, and Cherie for all the help getting the line ready for this season.  It’s gonna be a good one!
